Opponents of CapX2020 Work to Stop High Voltage Project

Opponents of a high-voltage transmission line are hoping a judge will reverse the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin’s decision to approve the multi-state CapX2020 project. Citizens Energy Task Force and NoCapX 2020 members filed a petition for judicial review in a Dane County Circuit Court.

Carol Overland is an attorney representing the groups. She says there were multiple problems with the PSC’s decision, so she hopes a Dane County judge will reject the decision or force the Commission to reevaluate it.

CapX2020 power line compensation plan unveiled

Wisconsin municipalities along the CapX2020 high-voltage transmission line route now know how much they’ll be compensated for housing the project.

Local governments will receive two types of payments: first is a onetime environmental impact fee, which is determined by how much land is used in each municipality and the total cost of the project. That figure is split between the county and municipality. Western Wisconsin will get almost $9 million. Buffalo County will receive the largest portion of that, more than $2.3 million dollars.

Wisconsin urged to rethink major energy transmission line

A group of citizens and a state agency will request the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin rethink its decision approving the CapX2020 energy transmission project.

The PSC recently approved the controversial CapX2020 project, which will bring power lines from the Dakotas into the state. The 150 foot lines enter Wisconsin at Alma and travel south the Holmen.

PSC approves transmission project and route

The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin has approved a major power transmission project and chosen the route the transmission lines will take.
 
PSC commissioners agree there is local need for CapX2020's increased transmission and 345 kV power lines. They also say it’s an important link in the larger Midwest energy transmission upgrade.
