Walker Will Go To Japan In September

By

Governor Scott Walker will make his second official overseas trip later this year when he joins other Midwest governors on a trade mission to Japan.

Walker will visit Japan September 8-10 as part of the Midwest U.S.-Japan Association Conference in Tokyo. In addition to Wisconsin, eight other U.S. states are part of the association. It’s chaired by former Illinois Governor Jim Thompson and Yuzaburo Mogi, the honorary CEO of Japanese soy sauce maker Kikkoman, which has a manufacturing plant in Wisconsin.

Walker says he will be joined on the trip by just about every other Midwest governor. He says the conference will focus on trade.

“We’re inviting about 50 different companies to come with us from Wisconsin. It’s not a real long trip. The governor is scheduled to speak at the conference September 9. Walker made his first overseas trip as governor earlier this year, traveling with representatives from several Wisconsin businesses on a trade mission to China.
