Storm Cancels Presidential Campaign Visits in Wisconsin

A massive storm on the East Coast has moved President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney to cancel campaign stops in Wisconsin. It’s uncertain if the appearances will be rescheduled.

People flocked to the Democratic Party headquarters of Brown County this weekend to stand in line for tickets to the president’s Green Bay campaign stop which was set for Tuesday. Some stood in line for a couple of hours.

The chair of the Brown County Democratic Party says news of the cancelation is disappointing. But Mary Ginnebaugh says people understand that Hurricane Sandy requires the president’s attention, “We had people at the Green Bay Democratic Party office out the door and down the street, down the other street and down the alley. So I think we distributed on Saturday alone a little over 1700 tickets and Sunday was, even as a Packer day, we had a number of people pick up tickets. So probably out of our office along a little more than 2,000 tickets went out.”

People with tickets are advised to hold onto them in case the event is rescheduled. Republican Mitt Romney was scheduled to appear in West Allis this evening, but that event was called off as well.
