Governor's Speaking Schedule Sparks Presidential Speculation
Some are suggesting a link between Governor Scott Walker's state budget proposal and Walker's possible presidential ambitions.
The governor continues to add speaking engagements in other states, and plan to work on his book. Some political analysts say those are signs Walker is considering a run for president in 2016. Helping fuel talk about a Walker run for the White House is his state budget proposal that contains high-profile policy ideas like expanding school vouchers and ending residency requirements for local government employees. Milwaukee resident Paul Trotter told the legislature's Joint Finance committee Thursday that they're doing the heavy lifting for the governor.
“ Do the Republicans here feel like pawns in Walker's quest for the presidency?”
Republican Senator Alberta Darling asked Trotter to stick to commenting on the state budget, but until the governor rules out a presidential bid, Republican lawmakers may not have heard the last claims about 2016 politics mixing with 2013 policy.
