Kristen Dexter of Eau Claire has won the 23rd state Senate Recall primary and now faces Republican Terry Moulton. The June 5th election won't be the first time the two have faced each other on the ballot.
Democrat Kristen Dexter beat protest candidate James Engel Tuesday (5/8) by nearly 30%. She now moves on to face incumbent Republican Terry Moulton in a recall general election on June 5th. But that matchup is a bit of déjà vu since the two have already competed in a state legislative race. In 2008, Terry Moulton was a defending state representative for the 68th state Assembly district when Dexter challenged him and won. She says she expects a similar result in the Senate recall, “I beat Terry Moulton the first time through pure hard work. I knocked on 8,000 doors, I introduced myself to a lot of voters that didn’t know me previously and we’re doing the same thing this time. We have an immense volunteer corps that’s out knocking on doors and making phone calls.”
Dexter says the Moulton recall isn’t just about collective bargaining or bringing the senate back to Democratic control. Instead, she says it’s about unfulfilled promises on jobs and a better economy.
