A deal over the federal budget may be close, as negotiations between Congressional Democrats and Republicans are expected to continue over the weekend. Rep. Sean Duffy (R-Wisc), who voted against the deal to re-open the government in October, says he's optimistic.
The three day winter storm that tested plows, backs, and patience is over in far northern Wisconsin. The snowfall king is 35.3 inches near Two Harbors, on Lake Superior's north shore.
National Weather Service Science Officer Dan Miller says Superior “only” got 17 inches of snow, with Ashland 16 inches and Spooner a mere foot. “Superior got comparatively less but still amounts in the 15”-20” range,” Miller said, “so [a] pretty incredible storm with respect to its three day duration and the aerial coverage of that heavy snow over that period.”
