In a federal review of Wisconsin's voter ID law taking place in Milwaukee, the state called a political scientist who said a similar law in Georgia did not have large racial disparities in who it affected.
U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisc) is urging Governor Walker to delay his plan to push nearly 80,000 people off of the state's Medicaid plan, known as BadgerCare. Baldwin fears technical problems and a short transition period could leave thousands without insurance next year.
The bills, which got strong bipartisan support in the Assembly, address everything from training cops on how to deal with the mentally ill to getting psychiatric services in underserved areas of the state.
